Dissolution of Parliament

The dissolution of Parliament took place on Thursday 30 May 2024. All business in the House of Commons and House of Lords has come to an end. There are currently no MPs and every seat in the Commons is vacant until after the general election on 4 July 2024.

Administration of the collection

Since the end of the Second World War the collection has been maintained by the office of the Serjeant at Arms.

In accordance with the intentions of the original donors, the collection has been periodically updated, and specimens of new medals have been given by the Royal Mint, the Ministry of Defence, the Metropolitan Police and other bodies. Several important donations have also been accepted from members of the public.
