Along with the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the Monarch (currently Queen Elizabeth II) is an integral part of the institution of Parliament. The Queen plays a constitutional role in opening and dissolving Parliament, and approving Bills before they become law. There are a number of works depicting the Queen in Parliamentary Art Collection. These include versions of her 1952 official coronation portrait, paintings of her addressing both Houses of Parliament to mark her Silver (1977) and Golden (2002) Jubilees, and a bronze bust by renowned sculptor Oscar Nemon.
