Some of the best examples of satirical caricature came from James Gillray(1757-1815). He used colourful, humorously exaggerated people in absurd scenarios to pass ridicule and criticisms of the political and social conditions of his day. Caricatures of William Pitt,, Charles James Fox and poltical events such as hustings in Covent garden in 1806 are included in the collection.
