Within this section are images of significant parliamentary events. These include views of the House of Commons and House of Lords in session, both in recent times and in previous centuries. Great State occasions, such as State Opening of Parliament are represented, as are some of the coronation banquets held in Westminster Hall. For centuries the Law Courts sat in small buildings inside the Hall, with the entire Hall being used for state trials. In recent times the Hall has been the venue for the lying in state of kings and queens. Elections are represented by selected images of the hustings, captured by a variety of artists and satirists during the 18th and 19th centuries.
