Both the House of Commons and the House of Lords Works of Art Committee launched initiatives in the 1990s to acquire works of art which represent England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and the regional areas of the United Kingdom. These show a variety of subjects-including scenes from around the United Kingdom, landscapes, buildings and industry and are in a range of media including prints, watercolour, tapestry and drawings. This element of the collection also seeks to promote the work of UK regional artists.
