Between 22 June and 29 July 2017, roads around the Houses of Parliament will be closed or restricted while Westminster City Council carry out utility works. Consequently traffic will be more congested that usual.
Visitors arriving by road (including bus and coach services) will be impacted, but pedestrian access is unaffected.
The following series of road closures around Parliament are planned:
- 22 to 28 June: Full closure of Bridge Street
- 29 June to 12 July: Closure of St Margaret Street / Abingdon Street southbound from Parliament Square up to Great College Street
- 13 to 29 July: Closure of St Margaret Street / Abingdon Street northbound from Great Peter Street up to Parliament Square
These road works and closures will affect vehicle access to the Parliamentary Estate via Carriage Gates and Black Rod’s Garden and will change for each phase outlined above.
Visitors are strongly advised to check which roads are closed and which entrance/exit is being used and should allow extra travel time as it may take longer to access the Parliamentary Estate.
Between 29 June and 29 July coaches should set down in Great Peter Street.
This page will be regularly updated. However, for more information about road closures around Parliament Square this summer, please visit the Transport for London website.
