We are delighted to announce that the English National Culinary Team have just gained Gold in Germany at the World Culinary Olympics.
The team was made up of the best chefs from around the UK and included two from the House of Commons; Andrew Ditchfield (Head Pastry Chef) and Matt Jones (Sous Chef). The team competed over five days in Erfurt, Germany.
The World Culinary Olympics is held every four years and is the pivotal of world competitions for chefs around the globe.
26 National teams from around the world competed and for our live restaurant of nations the UK team were up against; Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore and Germany at the event.
Early indications at around 11pm was that the dessert course produced by Andrew Ditchfield was the best, beating all other nations and gaining huge praise from the international jury. It was confirmed on Tuesday 25 October 2016 that the UK team overall achieved the Gold, holding top place in the competition.
This is a huge achievement for the UK team and we are delighted that two of the House of Commons Team competed alongside the UK team.
