Welcome to the Virtual tour of the House of Lords Library.
I am Liz Hallam Smith, Director of Information Services and Librarian.
Your visit will introduce you to the magnificent suite of rooms designed by Barry and Pugin in the mid 19th Century and still used for the purpose for which it was created.
In this setting, the Library staff are providing a 21st century service to meet the needs of the House of Lords today. We support the work of our Members in making and revising laws and holding the Government to account.
Few Members of the House of Lords are supported by researchers. Most come in and ask for advice and support in person, and this means that the Library Staff have a strong direct working relationship with the Members. This is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work.
We are proud of our Library and its services to our members and we hope that you will enjoy your visit to it.
