Photographic commission of Parliamentarians

The Speakers Advisory Committee on Works of Art have commissioned photographer Amit Lennon to produce a series of photographic portraits of seven parliamentarians.

The sitters

Rt Hon the Lord Lawson of Blaby, Rt Hon Clare Short MP, Sir Patrick Cormack MP, Simon Hughes MP, Rt Hon Alex Salmond MP, Rt Hon Michael Ancram, QC DL MP and Rt Hon the Lord Trimble were all photographed as part of the commission.

 

The artist-Amit Lennon

Amit Lennon was born in Israel and grew up to the north of Tel Aviv. Moving to London as a teenager he studied at University College London and gained a degree in Astronomy and Physics. His photographic career began in 2000 working for the Financial Times and following this other major national newspapers, including The Independent, The Times, The Observer and The Guardian. Amit's previous commissions have captured both portraits of actors, musicians, artists and politicians as well as challenging social subjects such as his series on immigrants living and working in Britain.

The series joins the Contemporary hang on Committee Corridor in Portcullis House.
