| The Draft Gambling (Licensing & Advertising) Bill would change the way remote gambling is regulated in Great Britain. The draft Bill would amend the Gambling Act 2005 so that remote gambling would be regulated on a point of consumption basis, rather than point of supply (as at present). This note looks at the background to the proposed change and summarises what the Bill would do. |

| The Levy is a statutorily based means of transferring money from bookmakers and punters to the racing industry to be used for designated purposes. The Levy is administered by the Horserace Betting Levy Board, a non-departmental public body established by statute, and is collected from bookmakers as a percentage of the gross profit on their horserace betting business. |
