10.01.2013Draft Gambling (Licensing & Advertising) Bill
The Draft Gambling (Licensing & Advertising) Bill would change the way remote gambling is regulated in Great Britain. The draft Bill would amend the Gambling Act 2005 so that remote gambling would be regulated on a point of consumption basis, rather than point of supply (as at present). This note looks at the background to the proposed change and summarises what the Bill would do.

The Levy is a statutorily based means of transferring money from bookmakers and punters to the racing industry to be used for designated purposes. The Levy is administered by the Horserace Betting Levy Board, a non-departmental public body established by statute, and is collected from bookmakers as a percentage of the gross profit on their horserace betting business.
