In the House of Lords resolutions are a type of motion that may be laid by a Member who wishes the House to make a decision on a subject. This may mean that they have a vote on the subject. If a resolution is passed it constitutes the formal opinion or decision of the House on a matter. Resolutions begin with the words "To move to resolve" or "To move that this House" in order to incorporate statements of opinion or the demonstration of a point of view.
