The Lord Privy Seal is one of the great officers of state along with posts such as the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Great Chamberlain. The full title is Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal and originally the post holder had responsibility for the monarchs personal (privy) seal. Today the post of Lord Privy Seal is an office within the Cabinet and has recently been linked to the post of Leader of the House of Commons.
