Law Commission

The independent body set up by Parliament to keep the law under review in England and Wales and to recommend reform when and where it is needed. The Commission recommends how to help make the law more accessible to the public, including where it would be appropriate to consolidate Acts of Parliament and to suggest repeal laws that no longer serve a purpose. Any recommendations accepted by the Government are then drafted into a Bill to be examined by Parliament. These types of Bill are often known as a "Law Commission Bills" although they will formally be called something else.
