
The Scrutiny Unit forms part of the Committee Office in the House of Commons. It exists to strengthen the scrutiny function of the House. It provides specialist expertise to select committees, especially (but not exclusively) on financial matters and draft bills.

Public Bill Committees
The Unit is responsible for co-ordinating the evidence-taking sessions of Public Bill Committees, including the receipt of written submissions. It works with the Public Bill Office, Select Committees and the House of Commons Library to ensure that Committee Members have appropriate briefing and support.
