
Welcome to the homepage of the Committee for Communities and Local Government (formerly known as the Committee on the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister).
The Committee was established on 13 July 2005 to examine the expenditure, policy and administration of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. Following the machinery of Government, changes on 5 May 2006, the Department for Communities and Local Government succeeded the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. A motion to rename the Committee, the Communities and Local Government Committee, was agreed by the House of Commons on 27 June 2006.
The Committee's membership of eleven is made up exclusively of Members of Parliament. It is appointed for the duration of the Parliament.
