The Chamber of the House of Commons is where Britain's elected representatives meet to debate. It was redesigned after the Second World War by Giles Gilbert Scott on almost exactly the same plan as that devised by Charles Barry in the nineteenth century. The shape of the room derives from that of the Chapel of St Stephen, which was for centuries the home of the Commons, until the fire of 1834.
