The County List is very difficult to derive in any definitive form because of the boundary changes and the establishment of unitary authorities (which are not in any county for local government purposes).
This list therefore is structured as follows:
English constituencies (529)
By London Borough
By Metropolitan counties as they existed until 1986
By Shire county based on boundaries derived from the 4th periodical review of parliamentary constituencies by the Boundary Commission completed in 1995. Unitary authorities are listed under the counties that they were listed under at the time of the Boundary Commission review and prior to the restructuring of local government between 1995 and 1998.
