Outcome of inquiries
If upon inquiry the Commissioner at any stage considers that there is not sufficient evidence to substantiate the allegation, she will not uphold it. Where applicable, she will write to the complainant to explain her conclusion and the reasoning behind it. She will also inform the Committee on Standards. Details of allegations which the Commissioner has not upheld since 1 April 2008, together with the evidence on which the decision was based, may be found here.
If the Member accepts that there has been a breach of the rules, and the Member has made suitable recompense, the Commissioner may decide to resolve the matter through the rectification procedure. Details of matters which the Commissioner has rectified since 1 April 2008, together with the evidence on which the decision was based, may be found here.
If the Commissioner sets out her findings in a memorandum to the Committee on Standards, the Committee will publish her memorandum with its report with its own conclusions. Past reports of the Committee may be found on the Committee's webpages.
