Catering complaints [FOI 973]

Request

Copies of complaints received by the House in 2012 relating to food and drink served in House of Lords catering outlets.

Response

During 2012 the House of Lords Catering and Retail Services (CRS) or the Chairman of the Refreshment Committee received 6 complaints about food and drink served in the House’s catering outlets.

Copies of each of the complaints received are available, redacted to remove the names of the complainants as this information constitutes personal data exempt under section 40 of the FoI Act 2000.

In addition, there are two comment books containing some information relevant to the request. These are taken from the River Restaurant and the Lords’ Bar, each accessible to all Parliamentary pass holders and their guests. The comment books contain both positive and negative feedback and were in place until March 2012. Names have not been removed from these books as they were in public view.

A new system of ‘suggestion’ cards was introduced in the River Restaurant and Millbank House cafeteria (also open to all pass holders) in summer 2012, the comments are also available (two comments have been removed because they were not relevant to the request),  suggestions that contained names have also been redacted.
