NHS Blood and Transplant authority announces plans to increase the availibility of organs for transplant
The NHS Blood and Transplant authority has published a 7 year strategy, Taking Organ Transplantation to 2020, to increase rates of donation and the number of organ transplants. This builds on previous work by the Organ Donation Taskforce, that has led to a 50% increase in donation over the last 5 years. The new strategy highlights areas that have not improved, notably the low levels of consent given by potential donors' families.
