Prior to farmers in two areas of England being permitted to shoot badgers from 1 June, in an attempt to control TB in cattle, POST hosted a private briefing session for Members, Peers and parliamentary staff. The purpose of the event, chaired by Lord Oxburgh, was to give parliamentarians the opportunity to debate bovine TB control with Professor Ian Boyd, the Defra Chief Scientific Adviser, Mr Nigel Gibbens, the Defra Chief Veterinary Officer and two independent scientists, Professor Christl Donnelly, Imperial College and Professor Rosie Woodroffe, Zoological Society London. Professor Donnelly and Professor Woodroffe were members of the Independent Scientific Group on Cattle TB. A summary of the event is available here.
