There is a consensus that translating the UK’s world-class research base into new businesses and jobs is of national importance, and a key driver for future economic growth. Enormous strides have been made in recent years to improve the UK’s innovation capacity, and 2015 provides an opportunity to further the debate on how best to support and maximise economic returns from UK innovation.

This breakfast meeting will bring together Parliamentarians and practitioners from across academia, industry and the investment community, for a facilitated conversation exploring how to further improve the UK innovation system and what it might look like in 20 years’ time. It is open to MPs, Peers and their staff.

The discussion will be chaired by the Rt Hon Liam Byrne MP, Shadow Minister (Business, Innovation and Skills). Speakers will include Mr Avi Hasson, Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Economy of Israel.
