CPA UK and the House of Commons Overseas Office will be hosting two delegations from Eastern Africa this week to observe and understand the workings of Westminster.
Seven members of the Kenyan National Assembly’s Procedure and House Rules Committee including Speaker Hon. Kenneth Marende MP, accompanied by several clerks and members of the Speaker’s office, will visit from 20-23 June.
Their programme includes discussions with Clerks from both Houses, meetings with the Speaker and the Lord Speaker, and observation of PMQs, as well as an opportunity to watch both Speakers’ processions.
This coincides with an inward visit of Hon. Job Y. Ndugai MP, Tanzania’s Deputy Speaker and three members of key Committees in the Parliament of Tanzania, accompanied by Parliamentarians and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation from 20-22 June.
Whilst here, they will have the opportunity to engage with Sir Malcolm Jack, Chief Executive and Clerk of the House of Commons as well as other clerks, to attend a roundtable discussion with Members of both Houses with a particular interest in Tanzania, and to observe a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee.
