CPA UK was delighted to host three parliamentarians from Botswana from 06 – 10 June. The delegation of two MPs and a parliamentary counsel visited Westminster to gain a better understanding of parliamentary questions in the UK Parliament.
During a busy and stimulating week, Mr Dumelang Saleshando MP, leader of the opposition Botswana Congress Party, Mr Prince Maele MP, a backbench member of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party, and Mr Edward Ramokhua Thebe, parliamentary counsel observed Prime Ministers’ Questions and Oral Questions in both the Lords and Commons Chambers.
They also met with Clerks and Rt Hon. Dawn Primarolo MP, as a former Minister, to understand procedural aspects of parliamentary questions, and with the Chairs of the Liaison and Procedure Committees.
Other sessions gave the MPs the opportunity to engage with members of the APPG on Botswana and members of the delegation from Westminster who visited Botswana in August 2010.
