From 6 – 8 February, CPA UK hosted a delegation of 3 MPs and one Clerk from the Committee on Rules, Privileges and Discipline of the Parliament of Uganda, led by the Chair of the Committee Hon. Fox Odoi Oywelowo MP.
The three day programme included a meeting with Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Ways and Means, Hon. Lindsay Hoyle MP, to discuss parliamentary practice and procedure, and discussions with the Chair of the Standards and Privileges Committee, Rt Hon. Kevin Barron MP, and the Chair of the Procedure Committee, Rt Hon. Greg Knight MP, to discuss the mutual oversight responsibilities of their committees.
The delegates also met with UK members of the All Party Parliamentary Group on the Great Lakes Region of Africa, discussed procedural matters with UK Parliament Clerks and observed Prime Minister’s Questions and a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee.
On Wednesday 8 February, the committee members participated in CPA UK’s Lunchtime Lecture on Securing Women’s Land Rights in Southern and East Africa, offering some lively contributions to the discussion.
