Artist-in-Residence

Background

To commemorate the 57th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC 2011), CPA UK has appointed an Artist-in-Residence to produce a piece of art work to enter the permanent works of art collection of the Houses of Parliament.

The Artist

Carl Jaycock has been chosen as the artist who will undertake this commission. He was chosen from a shortlist of 57 formal applicants by a board including Members of the House of Commons and Lords. Carl is a Shropshire-based artist with experience of working on numerous residences, producing a variety of pieces for public art projects, exhibitions and publications.

Carl will attend and observe as many sessions of the conference as possible, particularly the Opening Ceremony on Monday 25 July and the Centennial Dinner in Westminster Hall. He will also spend time discussing the conference themes with delegates attending the conference.
