'Parliament Talks Energy Bills' was part of a series of free events and promotional activities that highlight Parliament’s role in debating and challenging Government policy.
Parliament Talks Energy Bills
For those struggling with energy bill costs and needing information on how to reduce bills and make homes more energy efficient, 'Parliament Talks Energy Bills' was a free public event giving participants an opportunity to share their views with John Robertson, MP for Glasgow North West, and other members of the House of Commons Energy and Climate Change Select Committee helping to inform and influence their current Committee inquiry into 'Energy Prices, Profits and Poverty'.
Issues such as energy company profits, fuel prices and energy efficiency were discussed with Committee Members, including Tim Yeo MP, Chair of the Energy and Climate Change Select Committee and Peter Lilley MP.
Representatives from Citizens Advice Scotland, Energy Action Scotland and the Glasgow Home Energy Advice Team (G-Heat) were also on hand to provide information and answer questions from the public and other interested parties.
The event also provided an opportunity to find out how select committees and Parliament contribute to the debate on energy issues and scrutinise Government policy, particularly when it comes to fuel poverty and energy costs.
