Westminister Hall used for Channel 4 ident

Parliament secured a unique opportunity for somewhereto_ to use Westminster Hall as a “dream space” and as a result produced a Channel 4 ident  featuring four street dancers in the magnificent Westminster Hall.

Parliament has started working with somewhereto_ in the run up to our 2012 Arts in Parliament cultural programme.

The dance crew, made up of four dancers aged 16-25, were granted exceptional permission  to perform in  the historic space of  Westminster Hall.

Dancers Jayde, Russell, Chloe and Macauley used this unique opportunity to film an ident that featured as part of Channel 4’s Street Summer season – a series exploring the key influences that have shaped contemporary urban street culture, showcasing exciting new talent from the underground.

Lucy Shaw, Parliament and 2012 Project Manager, Houses of Parliament; said:

"Parliament and somewhereto_ are working together in advance of London 2012 as part of the Arts in Parliament programme for 2012. We were really keen to be part of a somewhereto_space, using the historic setting of Westminster Hall as way of engaging young people and making them realise Parliament is exciting and relevant as well as creating a new legacy to the space in 2012. If young people can unlock this historic space and be inspired, then they should feel empowered to make creative use of spaces in their own communities."
