The UK Youth Parliament debated the future of British troops in Afghanistan during a day of discussions in the House of Commons chamber on 29 October.

The Afghanistan war was selected as one of five key issues for young people by voters under the age of nineteen nationwide.

Members of the Youth Parliament voted on the question: "Should we withdraw all British troops from Afghanistan by 2012?". 137 MYPs were in favour of withdrawal by this deadline but 179 were against it.
