Should more UK cities have elected mayors?

Residents of twelve more UK cities will be asked whether they want a democratically elected mayor once the Localism Bill becomes law. (It is currently passing through Parliament.) What advantages could this have?

Greg Clark MP is the Minister for Decentralisation and he thinks more cities would benefit from having a democratically elected mayor to raise their profile in the UK and internationally. In the video above, he explains his view.
