Whether you're a teacher or an educational professional, you'll get new ideas for approaching citizenship and political literacy lessons with these free one-day seminars held at the Houses of Parliament.
Seminars often include talks from current members of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.*

General seminars
Suitable for teachers and PGCE students who want to broaden their general knowledge about Parliament, and get ideas for teaching political literacy within citizenship and general studies.
General seminar dates available
- Tuesday 4 June 2013: For teachers of Citizenship, PSHE and related subjects, to provide an introduction to Parliament and classroom resources.
Specialist seminars
Suitable for those already teaching subjects such as politics, these seminar days provide more depth and focus on specific topics relating to the work of Parliament.
Previous specialist seminars have covered elections, voting systems, building a coalition, and women in politics.
Specialist seminar dates available
- Tuesday 11 June 2013: For A-level teachers, to provide in-depth sessions relating to political and Parliamentary topics. This event will include talks on 2012 American Election, Women in Politics and Devolution.
- Tuesday 18 June 2013: A twilight session for A-level teachers, to provide in-depth sessions relating to political and Parliamentary topics. Topic content to be confirmed.
