SHEENA SUTHERLAND, TAEKWON-DO 9TH DEGREE GRAND MASTER

That this House congratulates Sheena Sutherland from Bathgate on becoming a Taekwon-do 9th Degree Grand Master; recognises that she is only the second woman in the world to achieve this accolade; further recognises that this has taken over 40 years of hard work and dedication; notes that she is a hugely respected figure in the sport, and that among her former pupils have been world champions Julia Cross and Brent Lyon; further notes that she was an integral part in Scotland gaining independence in the sport; wishes her continued success in the future; and hopes that her success encourages other young girls and women to practice martial arts.
