SEPSIS

That this House notes that sepsis claims 37,000 lives in the UK every year and costs the NHS £2 billion each year; further notes that Domain 5 of the NHS Outcomes Framework is focused on treating and caring for people in a safe environment and protecting them from avoidable harm; recognises that health professionals have identified timely, cost-effective interventions labelled the Sepsis Six which can halve the risk of death; further recognises that NHS organisations will be held to account for progress against indicators identified in Domain 5 and across the NHS Outcomes Framework; and calls for sepsis to be included in a future edition of the Framework.
