DEREGULATION OF CHILDMINDING IN THE UK

That this House is concerned that the Government is currently considering the deregulation of childminders in the UK; believes this to be both wrong and foolhardy as it would return childcaring back to unregulated, risky, untrained and unprofessional service providers unable and unwilling to meet the needs of children left in their care; andnotes that with regulation of these services comes regular inspections and the development of early years foundation training which provides parents with greater levels of confidence, whilst at the same time giving greater opportunity to those providing services intraining.
