NATIONAL DAIRY WEEK, 22-28 FEBRUARY 2010

That this House welcomes the start of National Dairy Week, organised by The Dairy Council and Dairy UK on 22 February 2010; notes that the UK dairy industry is of vital importance to the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the UK's countryside; recognises that dairy foods are enjoyed by 98 per cent. of the population and are a key part of a healthy, balanced diet; agrees that vibrant, well-invested dairy processors who are able to compete globally are a prerequisite for successful dairy farmers; and believes that the whole dairy sector requires a positive and supportive attitude from the Government.
