CARDINAL CORMAC MURPHY-O'CONNOR

That this House honours the dedication, work and contribution of Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor during his time as Archbishop of Westminster and President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales; notes with admiration the widespread respect that exists for his work and leadership held by the Catholic community, those of other faiths and those of none; particularly applauds his stance on social justice, dignity of human life, the family, international development and the role of faith in society; recognises the invaluable contribution he has made in championing the needs of the most marginalised and vulnerable; and believes that his tenure at Archbishop's House has strengthened and enhanced the importance of religion in today's society.
