UNIFORM IN PUBLIC PLACES

That this House supports the encouragement of service personnel of all ranks in the wearing of uniform in public places; is saddened by the lack of respect shown by individuals and organisations that discriminate against personnel wearing uniform prescribed in uniform regulations; believes there should be no `no go' areas in the United Kingdom for people in uniform; considers nevertheless that commanding officers should set local policy based on a balanced risk assessment; is appalled by the behaviour of those who offer verbal or physical abuse to service personnel; and urges the police to be robust in dealing with criminal acts against those that wear the uniform of Her Majesty's Armed Forces.
