AIRBUS A350

That this House congratulates Airbus on the successful first flight of the A380, the world's largest passenger aircraft; notes its recent application to the Government for Repayable Launch Investment for its next product, the A350; acknowledges the strategic importance of the A350 in meeting market demand and the innovative composite technology of the aircraft; urges the Government to approve the Repayable Launch Investment application to ensure continued UK global leadership in civil aerospace wing design and manufacture and to position the UK as one of the largest centres of composite application in the world for future products; and welcomes the 10,800 long-term aerospace sector jobs that would be created and the further 21,600 jobs in the wider economy that would be supported in the UK by the A350.
