THE LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION, THE SHADOW CHANCELLOR AND THEIR POSITION ON THE HABITUAL EXCLUSION OF WOMEN

That this House notes newspaper reports that the Leader of the Opposition and the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, the right hon. Members for Witney and Tatton, belong to a private members' club that excludes women; further notes the comments of the right hon. Member for Witney to the Equal Opportunities Commission on 13th March 2006, when he said `How can we draw on all the talents of the country when we habitually exclude half the population?'; believes that the right hon. Member for Witney should further clarify his position on whether he supports the habitual exclusion of half the population as is done at White's, the club that he and the right hon. Member for Tatton are reportedly members of; and, if they are members, calls for both right hon. Members to resign their membership and undertake no longer to support institutions that habitually exclude women.
