  • Sponsors:

That this House welcomes the British Cardiac Patients Association's heart failure awareness week; expresses concern that 1.5 per cent. of the United Kingdom population currently suffers from heart failure; welcomes the recently published NICE clinical guidelines for the management of chronic heart failure; acknowledges that early diagnosis and treatment of the condition leads to the best prognosis for patients; notes that the diagnosis and management of heart failure represents a significant burden on NHS resources; and calls on the Government to implement cost-effective solutions to this burden, including encouraging primary care trusts to fully implement the NICE guidelines.
