POST OFFICE NAME CHANGE

  • Session: 2000-01
  • Date tabled: 10.01.2001
  • Primary sponsor: Hopkins, Kelvin
  • Sponsors:

That this House notes the announcement by the Post Office that it proposes to change its name to 'Consignia' and believes this to be misguided; calls on the Post Office to reconsider its decision; agrees with the Communication Workers' Union that such a change of name would be 'dumping 350 years of proud history and solid reputation at the whim of a marketing consultant'; and urges that the Post Office retains its historic and valued role as a universal public service.
