    That this House welcomes the celebration of World Oceans Day on 8th June; notes the importance of the world's oceans, for food, resources, transport, recreation and wildlife; regrets the low level of awareness about a natural feature which covers two-thirds of the Earth's surface; acknowledges the role of Government in legislating for the protection of oceans, seas and coasts; supports the sustainable use of oceans to enable enjoyment of the seas and secure the livelihoods of those dependent upon them; supports appropriate regulation to reduce pollution, both direct and indirect; and urges the Government to make a commitment to bring about positive change for the protection and management of the world's oceans.
