YORKSHIRE WATER'S DIRECTORS' BONUSES

That this House is concerned that Yorkshire Water's directors propose to award themselves bonuses of up to 40 per cent. of their annual pay at their annual general meeting on Thursday 10th July; notes that the performance of Yorkshire Water in terms of service does not merit bonuses on this scale, in particular leakage rates and unplanned interruptions to supply are still some of the worst in the country; believes that any performance related pay in this environmentally sensitive monopoly industry should take customer service and environmental performance into account; and urges the shareholders of Yorkshire Water who attend the annual general meeting to show that the mood of the nation has changed since 1st May by rejecting the proposal to increase director's bonuses.
