That this House welcomes the Sports Council decision to locate the National Ice Centre in the Don Valley, Sheffield; notes the ú14.7 million investment is an acknowledgement of the professional way in which the bid was made and in recognition that Sheffield has over the last decade developed some of the country's most advanced recreational, training and competition facilities for sports women and men; and further notes the centre will house the training programmes for the next generation of Britain's international figure skaters, ice dancers and speed skaters, ably supported by the existing sports science and medical expertise within the Sheffield universities and hospital trusts.
