WILD-CAUGHT BIRD TRADE

That this House notes that high levels of mortality and suffering are inherent in the wild-caught bird trade, which also threatens the conservation and survival of several species; welcomes the European Parliament's call for an import ban; congratulates those airlines which have decided not to transport wild-caught birds; and calls for a ban, except under exceptional circumstances, on the import into the European Community of wild-caught birds.
