Job Opportunities in the Parliamentary Archives

job opportunities in the Record Office

Vacancies that occur for paid professional posts are advertised in publications such as the newsletter of the Archives and Records Association (formerly the Society of Archivists) and specialist professional mailing lists.  They will also be advertised on the Parliament website.

Vacancies for support posts are usually advertised in the national press.  Enquiries concerning such  posts in the House of Lords should be directed to the Human Resources Office, House of Lords, 7 Old Palace Yard, London SW1A 0PW.

Every year we have opportunities for individuals to undertake a two week voluntary work placement. These placements are suitable for university students or graduates who are interested in a career in the archives profession and who want to learn more about the work of a repository, prior to applying for a post-graduate degree in Archives and Records Management. Please note, owing to refurbishment work in the Victoria Tower we are temporarily closing our public searchroom from March to October 2013 and during this time we are unable to run these placements. If you are interested in the placements in the future, please contact the Parliamentary Archives after October 2013, sending your CV and a covering letter to archives@parliament.uk.
