On a recent BBC poll Winston Churchill was voted the Greatest Briton, mainly for his efforts during the Second World War. The House of Lords Record Office (the Parliamentary Archives) contains a number of documents relating to Churchill during his "Wilderness Years" and his time as Prime Minister during the War.
