Glossary

Financial years

Supply estimates are for one financial year and end on 31 March.

Vote on account

The vote on account provides resources and cash to allow existing services to continue during the early months of the coming financial year, pending Parliament's consideration of the main supply estimates for the coming financial year.

‘Existing services’ means services for which Parliament has given approval before the end of the current financial year.

Supplementary supply estimate

There is an opportunity to present a supplementary estimate towards the financial year end.

The supplementary supply estimate accounts for any changes that need to be made to the main supply estimate before the end of the financial year.
