Schools: admission A question was asked by Lord Lucas and answered by Lord Hill of Oareford.
Libraries A question was asked by the Earl of Clancarty and answered by Baroness Rawlings.
Environment: Rio+20 Conference A question was asked by Baroness Kinnock of Holyhead and answered by Lord De Mauley.
Business of the House Lord Strathclyde moved that the debates on the motions in the names of Lord Adonis and Baroness Jones of Whitchurch set down for today shall each be limited to 2½ hours. The motion was agreed to.
Examiner of Petitions for Private Bills The Chairman of Committees moved that, pursuant to Private Business Standing Order 69, Mrs K S Lawrence be appointed an Examiner of Petitions for Private Bills in place of Mr T V Mohan. The motion was agreed to.
Human Rights The Chairman of Committees moved that Baroness O’Loan be appointed a member of the Joint Committee in place of Baroness Campbell of Surbiton, resigned. The motion was agreed to.
Youth unemployment (2½-hour debate) Lord Adonis moved that this House takes note of the level of youth unemployment and its social consequences. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
10  Schools: well-being and personal and social needs of children and young people (2½-hour debate) Baroness Jones of Whitchurch moved that this House takes note of the contribution of schools to the well-being and personal and social needs of children and young people. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
11 Banking reform Lord Sassoon answered questions on a ministerial statement made in the House of Commons.
12  European rail market (EUC Report) Baroness O’Cathain moved that this House takes note of the Report of the European Union Committee on Tunnel Vision? Completing the European rail market (24th Report, Session 2010–12, HL Paper 229). After debate, the motion was agreed to.
