Universities: protected buildings A question was asked by Baroness Deech and answered by Lord Sassoon.
Ulster Bank A question was asked by Lord McAvoy and answered by Lord Sassoon.
Business of the House Lord Strathclyde moved that the debate on the motion in the name of Lord Jenkin of Roding set down for today shall be limited to 3½ hours and that in the name of Lord Higgins to 1½ hours. The motion was agreed to.
Public Service and Demographic Committee The Chairman of Committees moved that Lord Griffiths of Fforestfach be appointed a member of the Select Committee in place of Viscount Younger of Leckie, resigned. The motion was agreed to.
Further Education Institutions and 16 to 19 Academies (Specification and Disposal of Articles) Regulations 2012 Lord Strathclyde moved that the draft Regulations be referred to a Grand Committee. The motion was agreed to.
United Kingdom industry: international competitiveness (3½-hour debate) Lord Jenkin of Roding moved that this House takes note of the international competitiveness of UK industry, of its success in attracting inward investment and exporting to global markets, and of its role in strengthening the United Kingdom's economy and in job creation. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
Supply and Appropriation (Main Estimates) Bill A bill to authorise the use of resources for the year ending with 31 March 2013; to authorise both the issue of sums out of the Consolidated Fund and the application of income for that year; and to appropriate the supply authorised for that year by this Act and by the Supply and Appropriation (Anticipation and Adjustments) Act 2012, certified by the Speaker as a money bill, was brought from the Commons and read a first time.
10  Horses: transportation (1½-hour debate) Lord Higgins moved that this House takes note of the welfare and transportation of horses in the European Union. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
11 Army 2020 Lord Astor of Hever repeated a ministerial statement made in the House of Commons.
12 Sexual Offences Act 2003 (Remedial) Order 2012 Baroness Stowell of Beeston moved that the draft Order laid before the House on 5 March be approved. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
13 Sexual Offences Act 2003 (Notification Requirements) (England and Wales) Regulations 2012 Baroness Stowell of Beeston moved that the draft Order laid before the House on 5 March be approved. The motion was agreed to.
14 Terrorism Act 2000 (Proscribed Organisations) (Amendment) Order 2012 Baroness Stowell of Beeston moved that the draft Order laid before the House on 2 July be approved. The motion was agreed to.
15 Fishing Boats (Satellite-Tracking Devices and Electronic Reporting) (England) Scheme 2012 Lord De Mauley moved that the draft Order laid before the House on 24 May be approved. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
